By Don Stone -

Georgia Tech tried to get the bad taste out of their mouths. Of a pair of road losses in games where they were favored. Of an embarrassing against a team in Clemson who embarrasses a lot of teams.
The end result was a 1-3 record and winless in two ACC matchups.   A three game losing streak is nothing new for the Jackets. They've done it in five of the last eight seasons. But, in four of those, they came back to reach a bowl game. In 2016, they won six of their last seven games to finish 9-4. The Yellow Jackets got healthy and feasted on a Bowling Green with a dominating 63-17 performance Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Tech has won ten of its last 12 home games including 9 straight against unranked opponents and 11 in a row against non-conference opponents besides UGA.
The Falcons came into Bobby Dodd with the same 1-3 mark. And their losses haven't been competitive losing 58-24 at Oregon, 45-14 to Maryland and 38-23 to Miami of Ohio. They sit in last place in the six team Mid-American Conference East Division. Not only was this the first time that Tech had ever faced a team from that Conference, it was the first time they have ever played a team from the state of Ohio. From the orange and brown look of the uniforms, I thought that maybe the Cleveland Browns had shown up by mistake.
A beautiful weather day. Too bad more fans didn't show up...about half of the crowd from last week's game with Clemson.
Bowling Green got the ball first and looked like they had a plan that was working moving the ball methodically downfield all the way to the GT12. They settled on a Nate Needham 38 yard field goal and an early 3-0 lead.
The Falcons defense had not done very well previously in stopping the run. They came in last in the nation in rushing and 113th in stopping the run.  Tech clearly capitalized on that starting with a 33 yard completion to Jalen Camp at the BG36. Jordan Mason got a 9 yard touchdown run for a 7-3 Tech lead. The drive went 7 plays and 69 yards in 3:12.
Taquon Marshall went to the air again with a bomb to Camp for 37 yards to the 8. The QB got the rest to go up 14-3. Bowling Green appeared to be making a game of it on a quick strike to Deric Phouthavong in the end zone to pull to within a 14-10 score.
Tech let them know that wasn't going to happen with Marshall tossed another bomb, this time to Clinton Lynch to the 17. That catch set a record. For the first time in school history, the team had a 1000 yard rush and 1000 yard receiver. Nate Cottrell scampered into the right corner of the end zone for the third TD of the day and a 21-10 lead. The second of his career. Tech wound up running off run off 28 unanswered points to extend their lead to 42-17. They tacked on 11 more for a final score of 63-17.
The Jackets put up 532 yards of offense. Oddly, the Falcons had the ball 33:20 to the Jackets 26:40. Much of that because of the numerous quick strikes by Tech's offense in accumulating 8 touchdowns and never having to settle for a field goal. To ease Bowling Green's pain, the school got a $900,000 paycheck from Tech for putting the game on their schedule.
LB David Curry's interception in the fourth quarter was the first of his career. Anree Saint-Amour's interception in the fourth quarter was the first of his career and his three-yard INT return for a touchdown was the first TD of his career.
Next up, the level of opponent steps up a few notches as Tech goes on the road to Louisville for a rare Friday night matchup.
