Georgia Tech 3-0 Continues Homestand Against 2-1 Temple Owls

Georgia Tech will put its unbeaten record on the line this weekend when it welcomes Temple to Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Yellow Jackets (3-0) enter Saturday’s matchup brimming with confidence after last week’s dramatic 24-21 win over Clemson, one of the program’s biggest victories in recent years.

Riding High After Clemson – The Jackets’ upset last second win over the Tigers vaulted Brent Key’s squad into the national conversation as early-season contenders to watch. Quarterback Haynes King engineered a late game-winning drive with a 40 yard Aidan Birr field goal sent the fans storming the field.

That win drew an average of 4.8 million viewers with a peak of 7.7 million in the final minutes…the largest to watch a regular-season Saturday afternoon ESPN game since 2016.

Key said Tuesday that, while the Clemson win was meaningful, his team must guard against an emotional letdown.
“You’ve got to enjoy moments like that, but you can’t live in them,” Key said. “The challenge this week is to come out with the same edge and compete with the same urgency. Temple will be ready for us, and we’ve got to be ready for them.”

Temple (2-1) arrives in Atlanta coming off a 42-3 loss at #13 Oklahoma. Quarterback Evan Simon was only able to complete 13 passes for 75 yards. The Owls opened the year with two nonconference wins at UMass and at home in Philadelphia vs Howard.

What’s at Stake – For Georgia Tech, Saturday represents an opportunity to climb to 4-0 for the first time since 2011 and further solidify its standing before heading into tougher Atlanta Coast Conference play next week at Wake Forest. For Temple, it’s a chance to play spoiler and deliver a marquee road win for a program eager to establish itself.

Kickoff between the Yellow Jackets and Owls is set for 4:30 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The game will be televised on the CW.
