Georgia Tech rallied from a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit to edge Duke 36-34 on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium, improving to 9–1 overall and locking down first place in the ACC at 6–1. Head coach Brent Key’s squad is now only one win away from clinching a spot in the conference championship game as the Jackets prepare for a pivotal home matchup against Pitt next Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets’ comeback was powered by Haynes King, who amassed more than 320 yards of total offense and led three second-half scoring drives after Tech trailed by 11 going into the fourth quarter and by a point with 4:09 left. They put the game away with 11 seconds left on Aidan Birr’s second game winning field goal of the year from 23 yards.

The Yellow Jackets’ 628 yards of offense was the seventh-most in school history. They reached 9-1 for just the 10th time in program history, only the third since 1966. King threw for 371 yards and ran for 53 making him the fourth player in Tech history with 7,000 passing yards. It was his eighth 300-yard passing game, breaking the school record.

“We never stopped believing,” King said after the game, praising his teammates for a resilient effort on the road.

Georgia Tech’s defense gave up over 34 points for the second straight game, not enough against NC State, but just enough at Boston College.

With the victory, Key’s team sits atop the ACC standings, needing just one more win to secure a spot in Charlotte. “We talk every week about finishing, and tonight we finished,” Key said. “Now we control our destiny at home.”

Next up, the Jackets host Pitt for the last game this season at Bobby Dodd Stadium, where a win would seal Georgia Tech’s first ACC title game berth since 2014. Atlanta fans will have plenty to cheer for as the city gets ready for a championship push.

The game was moved to a 7:00 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
