Yellow Jackets Have Tough Schedule Ahead In Much Anticipated Season

Brent Key’s Yellow Jackets face a slate packed with tradition, rivalries, and playoff-level talent—a true test for a program looking to break through after back-to-back seven-win seasons.

Georgia Tech kicks things off on Friday night, August 29, in Boulder against Colorado. This marks the first meeting between two schools that split the 1990 national title and also Tech’s first regular-season game west of the Mississippi since 2013.
Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes won nine games last season including victors at Baylor, UCF, Arizona, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

The Jackets return to Atlanta for three straight: an FCS matchup with Gardner-Webb (Sept. 6), a marquee ACC opener against perennial power Clemson (Sept. 13), and a first-ever home game versus Temple (Sept. 20).

Conference play heats up from there, with road trips to Wake Forest (Sept. 27), Duke (Oct. 18), NC State (Nov. 1), and Boston College (Nov. 15).

In Atlanta, the Jackets welcome back old ACC Coastal rivals Virginia Tech (Oct. 11) and Pitt (Nov. 22), plus a dangerous Syracuse squad (Oct. 25) that finished 10-3 last season. Two open dates (Oct. 4, Nov. 8) give Tech a chance to regroup during this gauntlet.

The season’s grand finale is “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate”: archrival Georgia comes to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Black Friday (Nov. 28). After last year’s epic, eight-overtime battle, the anticipation is sky-high, especially since Georgia has dominated the series recently.

The Bulldogs and Clemson—both playoff teams in 2024—anchor a schedule that saw nine of Tech’s FBS opponents make bowl games last season.

                                                                                                     Key games and storylines abound:

The Clemson clash is huge for ACC dreams and national perception; can Tech take down a conference juggernaut at home?

UGA always looms large, but with the game moved to Friday again, the Jackets have a shot for a signature, season-defining win.

Syracuse and Pitt are potential swing games with bowl or even ACC Championship implications.

With Haynes King at the helm, an experienced supporting cast, and renewed energy in Atlanta, Georgia Tech looks to meet the moment in a season loaded with opportunities and high stakes.
