Show MoreBrent Key Weekly Press Conference Previewing Virginia Tech
Haynes is still day-to-day, okay? Mike told me before I came down here, that there's some report that someone had come out and said that he's not playing. There's one person in the entire stratosphere that makes that call and that's myself. And there's been zero call made on that. He's day-to-day. Are we preparing the other guys to play? Yes. All right. Are we ruling him out? No. You heard it from the horse's mouth right there.

Homecoming...quality opponent...maroon effect, sellout. An awesome opportunity for our program against a very good football team. Coach Key...I've known him for awhile. Tremendous respect. He's invested in Georgia Tech for a lot of personal reasons. He's been super competitive. Slowing down the run is going to be a key to success, without question. We haven't been consistent enough in our run defense.

24-14 At Bobby Dodd Stadium
On the surface, some might have been surprised to see a 5-0 undefeated Duke team coming in to Bobby Dodd Stadium as a 10 point underdog to the 3-2 Yellow Jackets. But, a bit of research might explain that those wins were against a pretty soft schedule. The Blue Devils beat Elon and UConn at home, then went into double OT to beat Northwestern. Their 4th win was against a 1-4 FCS team in Middle Tennessee.

The favored Jackets were going against a team that lost its best linebacker to injury and gave up 6.5 yards per carry to Ohio last week. Syracuse was the more physical team by a lot today and GT leaves with their first loss of the season and a lot of things to figure out.
Show MoreGeorgia Tech Impresses With 35-12 Win Over Georgia State
Given the short distance from the Georgia State campus, I was surprised there was not a lot more blue in the crowd. Tech fans filled most of what they didn’t, though. All 6,000+ tickets allocated to students were sold out. Big plays, a balanced offensive attack and defensive stands highlighted the first ever meeting between the two football teams. The key to it all is being able to get guys touches,” Tech coach Brent Key said.
